What is a Citation Alert?

A citation alert will notify you when new publications cite a particular work. This is useful if you are following your own research or want to keep current on a specific topic.

Create an Alert in Google Scholar

  1. Create a personal account in Google Scholar
  2. Locate the article you are interested in following
  3. Click on the "Cited by" link at the bottom of the article
  4. Click on the envelope icon on the left side of the search results page
  5. Select the number of results to receive
  6. Click on the red create alert button
