Citation Management: Overview

This guide will introduce you to citation managers, both what they are, and specific tools you can use

Purpose of this Guide

This guide will introduce you to citation managers, both what they are, and specific tools you can use.

What are Citation Managers?

Citation managers allow you to collect, organize, and cite research. Some tools offer collaboration options, such as sharing citations with others, and plug-ins with Word processing tools, which make creating bibliographies an easier process.

Citation managers range from free, open-source tools, to licensed products that require a financial investment.

Does Advocate Health - Midwest Offer a Citation Manager?

Advocate Health - Midwest has no official citation management tool. However, many individuals and departments across the system use tools like Zotero and EndNote.

If you are looking to purchase citation management software for your work, start with opening a ServiceNow ticket.

If you're interested in using a free tool that requires a software download, you may need to open a ServiceNow ticket for installation on an Advocate Health - Midwest owned device.
