Citation Management: EndNote

This guide will introduce you to citation managers, both what they are, and specific tools you can use

What is EndNote?

EndNote, is a robust citation manager with two main formats: EndNote Basic and EndNote 20.

EndNote Basic is the free, web-based version of the citation manager, EndNote 20. It offers 21 citation styles and a limited number of filters and connection files. Users can create an online library with a maximum of 50,000 references and up to 2GB of attachments.

EndNote 20 is a licensed software download/app that requires a financial investment. For those working needing additional features such as thousands of citation styles, linking to library-subscribed publications, unlimited file storage, and a more polished look, might want to invest in EndNote 20. EndNote 20 is available for desktop/laptop and iPad app.
