Remote Access to Library Resources: Access for Independent Affiliated Teammates

Learn how to get access to Advocate Health - Midwest Library resources when working remotely, or off the institutional network.

Overview

This guide provides information on how independent affiliated teammates can get access to Library resources. Independent affiliated teammates are non-employee providers who have privileges with Advocate Health Care (IL) or Aurora Health Care (WI) with a Network or Workspace ID.

If you are an independent affiliated teammate without a Network or Workspace ID, contact your leader or sponsor to request this.

On-network

On network means logged into an Advocate Health – Midwest Region workstation, logged into the Advocate Health - Midwest network with your network ID, or signed into a VPN (Workspace, AnyConnect or Zscaler).

On-network access to library subscription resources is seamless. Start out at the library’s website, https://library.aah.org, and find quick links to your favorite resources or use the Quick Search box to find and access articles, books, and book chapters.

Off-network / Remote

Off-network, or remote access means logged into the Advocate Health - Midwest guest network, on a personal computer or mobile device, or using a work-issued computer but not logged into the VPN or Advocate Health - Midwest network.

If you are off-network, you have a few options for accessing library subscription resources.

  1. Get to library resources through Epic. Use your Network ID/ Workspace ID to login to Epic via Workspace. Log in with Citrix, go to the Epic menu and select Tools/Web Links. The Advocate Health - Midwest Library link on the Smart Chart Web Links Page will open the library website in a web browser. Use this browser window to seamlessly connect to library subscription resources.
  2. Use an SSO account to access library resources through LibLynx, our remote access solution. A LibLynx remote access account allows you to access library resources with your Advocate Health - Midwest SSO account. Independent affiliated teammates can work with their leader or sponsor to request a non-associate SSO account. Learn how to request this account in eForms.

IMPORTANT: Setting up an SSO account is a 2-step process. 1) Create the account in eForms. 2) Send the library an email (aah-libadmin@aah.org) so that we can work with HIT to ensure your SSO account is enabled for remote access to library resources.

Also, a LibLynx account will only give you access to subscription resources that are managed by the library. Resources that are managed by other departments, such as Lexicomp, are only available on-network.
