Remote Access to Library Resources: Overview

Learn how to get access to Advocate Health - Midwest Library resources when working remotely, or off the institutional network.

Purpose of this Guide

Learn how to get access to library resources from wherever you are.

This information pertains to teammates in the Advocate Health Care (IL) or Aurora Health Care (WI) regions.

What is the Difference Between Being On-network and Off-network?

On-network means:

  • logged into a workstation at an Advocate Health Care (IL) or Aurora Health Care (WI) site
  • logged into the Advocate Health network with your Network ID
  • signed into an Advocate Health VPN like Zscaler.*

On-network access to library subscription resources is seamless. Start out at the library’s website, https://library.aah.org, and find quick links to your favorite resources or use the Quick Search box to find and access articles, books, and book chapters.

* Zscaler is the main remote access solution for Advocate Health teammates. Submit a ServiceNow ticket for all issues related to Zscaler.

Off-network, or remote access, means:

  • logged into the Advocate Health - Midwest guest network
  • using a clinic computer that is not connected to an Advocate Health network.
  • using a personal computer or mobile device

Off-network access can be as seamless as on-network access if you start out at the library’s website, https://library.aah.org and use the links to connect to your favorite resources. When you are off-network, you will be prompted to login to LibLynx with your Advocate Health SSO credentials. Once you are logged in, keep using links on the library's website to connect to resources.

Note: Library users who are connected to the Phys_APC wireless network will need to use LibLynx to connect to library resources.
