ClinicalKey: Creating Persistent Links

Learn how to use the ClinicalKey website and mobile app, obtain CME credit, and find remote access options for Advocate Health - Midwest teammates

Creating Links to ClinicalKey Resources

ClinicalKey links that contain a '#' in the URL are not stable. These links will work for those who are connected to an Advocate Aurora network (on site or connected to the VPN), but if you are not on the Advocate Health - Midwest network, clicking these links will sometimes take you to ClinicalKey's homepage and not to the article or book chapter you are trying to access.

Example of a NON-STABLE link: https://liblynxgateway.com/aah?url=https://www.clinicalkey.com/#!/content/journal/1-s2.0-S1081120611009380

In ClinicalKey, persistent links are called "durable URLs." There are different ways to make durable URLs in ClinicalKey depending on the type of resource you want to share. This page provides instructions on making links for articles, books, book chapters, and journals.

ClincalKey Durable Links | Articles

Create a durable URL using a CK article's DOI and the LibKey.io prefix. Instructions found here.

  • ClinicalKey makes it challenging to find an article's DOI. Sometimes you can find the DOI in the PDF version of the article or you can generally find DOIs by searching for the article title in our library's Quick Search (Summon).

ClinicalKey Durable Links | Books, Book Chapters, Journals

Method 1: Look up the book, book chapter, or journal in the applicable spreadsheet found under the under the "Durable URLs" section of this site: Implementation – ClinicalKey (elsevierresources.com)

Note: You will need to add the LibLynx proxy prefix before the durable URLs to ensure that the links are accessible from off the Advocate Health - Midwest network or VPN. LibLynx proxy prefix:  https://liblynxgateway.com/aah?url=

Method 2: Create a link by copying sections of the ClinicalKey URL and appending it to the applicable link prefix found below.

Books and book chapters: Look up the book or book chapter that you want to share, copy the alpha-numeric code at the end of the URL and append it to the appropriate URL.
