Accessing PubMed Remotely

Creating an Account

Steps to create a personal user account:

  1.  Go to PubMed.
  2. Click on "Log in".
  3. Find and click on "Sign up" at the bottom of the page.
  4. Select the third party, federated account credential of your choice.*
  5. Enter your third party credentials.
  6. Select to create a new account (or link to an existing account if you previously had an NCBI account before the switch to third party-managed credentials).
  7. You can now use these credentials to log into PubMed.

*PubMed and NCBI no longer use NCBI-managed credentials to log into NCBI. Those who have only have NCBI-managed credentials and need help transitioning to a third party account can find helpful information in the NCBI blog.
