So You Want to Publish an Article...: Free Journals for Publishing

Before submitting to any journal, consider the scope, reputation and reliability of the publication. Does it meet your needs as an author? 

This list of free journals to publish in was current as of the time of writing. It is not comprehensive, but includes journals in the fields of medicine, pharmacy, public health and more. 

•  ACG Case Reports Journal (American College of Gastroenterology)  Their APC is $500 for case reports, but $0 for ACG members.
•  Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine 
•  Annals of Internal Medicine 
•  BMJ Case Reports Requires a fellowship to submit, but the Advocate Health - Midwest Library currently holds an institutional fellowship.
• Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine (Cleveland Clinic) Focused on internists and cardiologists. 
•  Cureus (part of Springer Nature) 
•  Journal of Geriatric Emergency Medicine (Advocate Health - Midwest institutional repository) 
• Journal of Patient-Centered Research and Reviews  (Advocate Health - Midwest institutional repository)
