Citation Formatting: Creating Quick Citations

This guide will introduce you to citation formatting basics, including popular styles, and guides and tools you can use to create citations

When to use a Quick Citation Tool

If all you need is a quick citation or two, consider using the tools built into databases, or a free tool like ZoteroBib.

If you're creating a bibliography, need in-text citations in a document, or are managing a long list, consider using a more robust tool such as EndNote or Zotero.

Visit our Citation Management guide for more information.

Look for "Cite"

Most research databases like PubMed and vendors like EBSCO or OVID include a quick citation feature in their product. Look for "Cite" to copy/paste their recommended citation for your preferred style. Always double-check citations.
