Plus one is a strategy adapted from business to extend thinking/performance to the next level. In education this strategy has been adapted to be “plus one slide.” Medical education program leaders are invited to add “one slide” on the impacts of climate on patient care to any topic they are currently presenting for teaching sessions.

NI IX Addressing the Social and Moral Determinants of Health will be an eighteen-month initiative from the Alliance of Independent Academic Medical Centers. The aim is to improve physicians' ability across the continuum of medical education to address the (inequitable) impacts of climate on their patients' health from anticipatory guidance to in-the moment consultation.
Advocate Health - Midwest Region is one of 29 teams in this national effort. Multiple strategies will be used to achieve this aim and to coalesce an array of education efforts including "Plus one."
