Library Resources to Support Hispanic Health

by Elizabeth Suelzer, MLIS, AHIP on 2024-09-24T08:30:00-05:00 | 0 Comments

Hispanic Heritage month is celebrated nationwide from September 15th to October 15 to acknowledge the culture and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans.  In 1988, Hispanic Heritage Week was extended to a full month celebrating Hispanic and Latino/a/x countries and cultures. The month starts the week of September 15th in observance of the Independence Days of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica (September 15th), Mexico (September 16th), Chile (September 18th), and Belize (September 21st).

In recognition of this month, the  Library is promoting resources that can help providers better understand the health and health information needs of Hispanics and Latinos.  See our Hispanic and Latino Health Guide located on our guide to resources for diversity, equity and inclusion.
