Karen Hanus Named Librarian of the Year

by Kathy Koch, MLIS, AHIP on 2025-12-11T13:29:48-06:00 | 0 Comments

We are thrilled to share that Library Director Karen Hanus was named the Wisconsin Health Science Library Association’s Librarian of the Year during its business meeting on December 9. Librarian of the Year is a career award that is given to a professional librarian in recognition of outstanding leadership, achievement and commitment to the library profession.

Karen’s nomination cited her decades of service to WHSLA where she is currently serving as treasurer, her essential contributions to integrating the libraries for two healthcare system mergers since 2020, her consistent efforts to increase awareness of library services across the Advocate Health enterprise, and her unflagging support for her library staff. As her nomination submission aptly put it – “she does everything with compassion, wisdom and steady resolve.”

Thank you, Karen, for leading the way and lifting everyone up!

Karen Hanus
